Charlize Theron might play Anna Nicole Smith in a movie about her life. Wait, what?

So multiple sources are now confirming that Charlize Theron is being considered to play Anna Nicole Smith in a movie about her life. It’s a bit early for an April Fools joke, so I thought I might find some subtext that says “and the movie will be made by monkeys” or something similar. Unfortunately, all I could find was this:
You couldn’t make up a life story like Anna’s. Studios are falling over themselves to pay tribute to an incredible woman. There are a number of actresses earmarked to play Anna, with Charlize the favorite.
I have no idea what “earmarked” means, but judging by the way it’s used in the sentence, I’m guessing it means “who have been offered millions of dollars to lose any dignity they have left”.
